I think it all depends on the goal of the blog. If the goal of your blog is personal – sharing things of interest and connecting to the world on a personal basis – random content and timing is fine. If the goal of the blog is more business oriented, then I think regular timing and industry-related content is important, because that builds “know, like and trust”. For example, I can count on Seth’s blog arriving every every day as scheduled. A sprinkling of personal anecdotes is welcome, even in a business related blog, so that the reader becomes additionally connected with the writer.
That said – my belief that posts should be regular and useful has also provided an excuse for me to avoid beginning the task until I can commit to both – so perhaps I’m exactly the wrong person to comment!
Can’t wait to hear what others might say!

Unfortunately many people not versed in SEO techniques might not be able to tell the SEO expert from the spammer. It’s a tough hurdle to jump sometimes.

Perfect timing for me to read this post. We’re figuring out a marketing plan for a contest. We don’t have plans for phone calls because they are time intensive and we have little of that. We will send email, notes, and connect in person.
